Resident Evil: Revelations is one of the many marquee titles for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS. Capcom say it's still a long way off, but there is something for gamers to fill the gap with: Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. In an interview with Famitsu, director Kazuhisa Inoue explained that the controls will remain largely the same but gamers will be able to move while firing. The game will automatically switch to first-person mode when you fire. You can also play the entire game as an FPS.
The Mercenaries 3D will also feature customizable characters. Weapons can also be customized. "You can give them skills and adjust their weaponry," Inoue explained. "That lets you adjust them for your own play style while leveling up their skills." Among those included in the playable roster are Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Hunk, and Jack Krauser. Each of them have their own abilities. For example, Claire will rely on agility while Jack is more of a tank with high attack and defense.
If you're looking for a story, however, then The Mercenaries 3D isn't the game for you.
Capcom hasn't set a release date for Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D yet, but seeing as how the game is already 70% complete according to Famitsu a 2011 Japanese release isn't so farfetched.
